Christmas Came Early

Since we were going to Dallas to celebrate Christmas with Michael’s family, we had an early Christmas with Grandma, Papa, Nanny, Uncle Patrick, Great Aunt Ellen, and Aunt Kasey stopped by.  It was a quiet celebration but very fun.

Grandma, Papa, and Aunt Ellen arrived early and soaked up a little time watching Gabby excitedly run around impatiently waiting to open gifts.  They ate gumbo while we waited for Nanny and Uncle Patrick to arrive.  Nanny and Uncle Patrick drove from Shreveport and directly to our house that day to have Christmas.  As soon as everyone arrived, we unloaded all of the gifts flooding the living room and then, without giving Nanny and Uncle Patrick a moment to breathe, began opening Christmas gifts.  We laughed and opened gifts for about an hour….well Gabby opened gifts that long, we all enjoyed watching.  Gabby racked up getting money for her college fund, a personalized Doc McIlroy doctor’s lab coat, doc McStuffin’s toys, a really cool ball you throw and changes colors, a magnetic puzzle board where you try to copy designs, a bike, a new doll, a stuffed unicorn, games, and the list goes on and on.  Gabby gave everyone a calendar with her hand print art made throughout the year.  Michael wired in an auxiliary plug in my car, and I gave him a Texans phone case and cologne.

The best gift of all was watching Nanny’s expression as she pulled a stuffed fox out of her stocking.  I don’t know what Uncle Patrick was thinking but when Gabby took one look at it and realized it was real, she freaked out, but eventually warmed up to the strange gift, hid it, and made us all find it to scare us.  It was adorable.  Once all of the gifts were unwrapped and another round of gumbo was eaten, Gabby began taking her toys few by few to her room by putting them in the basket of her bicycle and brought them all to her room.  Then we were all forbidden to enter her room while she did surgery on her toys.  It was a relaxing and very fun Christmas.

Thanksgiving 2013

Thanksgiving Day we all with to Grandma and Papa’s house to enjoy a traditional Cajun dinner and it was delicious.  Gigi, Blakeleigh, Brandy, Nanny, Uncle Patrick, Grandma, Papa, Aunt Lisa, Aunt Christine, and Keith were all there to celebrate with us.  Gabby enjoyed the day immensely playing with Blakeleigh the entire day and even trying to snuggle with her during her nap time.  Gabby made everyone sing "Happy Birthday" to Mommy and she blew out the candles Then Brandy and Blakeleigh spent two nights with us.  We had lots of fun going to Mud Pie to make handprint Christmas cookie plates and hanging out at Grandma’s house.  Gabby enjoyed very much singing Happy Birthday to Mommy with the family and blowing out my candle.  The night of my birthday Gabby spend the night with Grandma and Papa and Nanny, Uncle Patrick, Mommy and Daddy went to the movies together for the first time ever.  It was a very fun weekend.   T...

Shelbie. Sherbie? Sheldon!

So I caved. We always go to the pet store and look at all of the animals, for at least an hour each week. The day after Christmas we went to the pet store and Gabby said, "Can I have a real cat? Please..." I said no, but for some reason I decided she needed a cat and Michael was on board, so Saturday we did not tell her what we were doing, but we bought all of the stuff for a cat and then went to the pet adoptions. Gabby loves looking at all of the pets and was petting all of the kitties. We played with numerous cats and chose a 9 month old cat that has been in the pet store as long as we have been going there.   This cat always seems to perk up and give Gabby attention, so he was the only one I was truly interested in adopting.  I didn't want a kitten because they are so rambunctious with sharp kitten claws, not to mention Gabby isn't that gentle and I was afraid she might have loved it to death.  We used Gabby's Christmas money from all of...

I'm Going to School Today!

Friday was Gabrielle's first ever day of preschool.  We woke up early because we were excited. Gabby cried the entire morning getting ready (I think she was nervous).  I got Gabby dressed and packed her snack and backpack early.  We headed out the door extra early to ensure we were there in time.  On the way to school Daddy called.  When I answered Gabby started singing one of her children's songs with the melody perfect, "I'm going to school today, I'm going to school today. I. Am. Going. To. School!"  Daddy wished her good luck and we hung up because we had arrived at the empty church where school is held? Being only 20 minutes early I was sure the school teachers would at least already be here.  After walking around the school making sure I didn't just park in the incorrect spot and asking a not so helpful person who pulled up, I concluded we were in the wrong place, but I had no clue where to go and was freaking out, but trying to keep it togeth...
