My 3rd Mother's Day

It's hard to believe that Sunday was the third time I've been able to celebrate Mother's Day.  This Mother's Day was especially special because I became a godmother to Aiden and Addison, some of our closest friends two children.  We woke up that morning got dressed and headed to church to watch the baptism of some of the cutest kids I ever met.  They church had us sit in the front row for ease of baptizing, but it made it far more difficult for us to contain our kids.  The baptism was at the very beginning of the sermon.  Less than 5 minutes after the baptism Gabby made a noise talking to Daddy, (I doubt the people next to us could even hear) the minister came up to me and offered to show me where the day care was.  She was very polite and sweet, but I knew I could not exactly refuse.  I have never left Gabby with a stranger, not for 30 seconds, so I walked in to the nursery and Gabby instantly began coloring.  Once Addison appeared (because the minister had "offered" to show Priscilla the nursery) I asked Gabby if she wanted to stay and mommy was going to leave.  She told me bye and went back to playing.  I left the nursery and gave them Mike's number in case she started to cry.  Aiden refused to stay in the nursery so Priscilla, Aiden, and I started the long trek back to the church. By the time we arrived at the stairs that lead into the house of worship Aiden sprinted to the door and ran from the very back of the church to the front pew where his bright red Daddy was waiting.  The floors are apparently hollow and Aiden clomped loudly and quickly through the church.  Although, I had not yet made it into the chapel, Michael told me that he could hear everyone attempting to stifle their laughter. Priscilla calmly walked in and I followed. Luckily a song had begun and everyone was singing by the time I walked through the back of the church. Basically by the time I was in the pew and had composed myself enough to hear what the minister was saying the nursery text messaged Michael and asked me to come get Gabby.

It took me 10 minutes to completely calm Gabby, which is longer than she was in the nursery.  Rather than going back into the church, she and I instead found a playground and played there until the service came to an end.  After a few quick pictures with the minister we corralled the three kids into the trucks and headed to lunch.  We enjoyed a delicious lunch at a hibachi grill, gave the kids their gifts, ate cake, and then ventured the 3 hours back home.  Gabby was exhausted and we figured she would sleep the entire way home.  Instead she fell asleep 2 hours and 58 minutes after we got in the car.  It never fails as soon as we turn into our neighborhood Gabby passed out.  Grandma and Papa came to visit her but it took 30 minutes before she woke up again.  Mother's Day was great, I enjoyed seeing my mother and  playing with my baby.  Thank you Michael for making it special too.

I hope you had a Happy Mother's Day! I don't think you could be any better of a mother.

Was it kind of comforting to know you were right when you didn't want to leave her? I hate feeling obligated to do things when I don't want to or feel weird about it.

Unrelated, but that reminds me of a quote from the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo: "The fear of offending is stronger than fear of pain."

I'm glad we were always raised to go with our intuition and gut instinct. It is, however, pretty hard to tell someone no when they are a religious official and when it is in front of the whole church.

Even though it was just a church daycare,I'm glad she cried. lol.

Interesting Fact

Today I went to the doctor for my now bi-weekly appointment. This is only the second time he has gotten out a measuring tape and measured my engorged stomach. My boss was talking about how interesting it is when they measure you...so I asked my doctor about it today and it's true! Whenever you are in your 20 something week and further along until very close to the end of pregnancy the number of centimeters from your pelvic bone to the top of your uterus should approximately be the same as the number of weeks pregnant you are. This week I was 28 centimeters and I am 28 weeks! So Gabrielle is right on schedule.

A Fun Filled Christmas Season

This Christmas season has been a very busy one for our family.  I have hosted a party and been to a numerous parties.  Gabby saw Santa Claus twice, made gingerbread houses, saw a performance of the “Gingerbread Man” with puppets, made a gingerbread man and ate it, counted down the days until Christmas with an Advent Calendar, made Mary, Joseph, and Jesus figurines, and went to look at Christmas lights a few times while belting out Christmas songs.  We did not forget the reason for this season.  No matter what we were doing, I tried to incorporate and tie it back into Jesus’ birth and the true meaning of Christmas.  Even Mr. Elfis tried to show Gabby that this season is about Jesus.  He read a Christmas Story one day and prayed over a nativity scene one day. Mr. Elfis enjoying a roasted marshmallow Gabby "helped" make cookies for the party I attended Mess maker, the only way to have fun As a treat, I bought Gabby, Grandma, and I tickets to the local Nutcra
